Built is the combined result of a love of the outdoors and a passion for high quality design and build. Our mission is to provide people with a means of finding a greater purpose outside of their homes and work by immersing themselves in the outdoors, reconnecting with nature, and spending some care-free moments with the people and places they love the most.
Pete Leclerc - Founder + Builder
Hello and welcome to Built Vans - my name is Pete and I’m the Founder! I’ve worked for more than 10 years as a custom woodworker on projects for brands such as Converse, Nike, Hasbro, Ikea, and many others in the Boston area.
I built my first van in 2016 after getting into mountain biking and meeting friends who owned a Ford Sportsmobile. Being able to carry all your gear, food, water, and having a place to crash? I knew I needed my own van ASAP. In 2018 I bought my first new vehicle ever, a 2018 Sprinter low roof with the intention of doing a Sportsmobile style pop-top, but decided to sell that van when MB redesign the Sprinter.
In 2019 I bought my dream van: A Sprinter 4X4, which was delivered on Christmas Eve. We all know what happened in early 2020, which caused my custom fabrication woodworking business to come to a complete halt. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and Built. Vans was born as I was able to focus on building my van and learn new skills.
Since then I’ve completed multiple full builds and have installed components from top manufacturers including Roambuilt, Owl Vans, and Flatline Van Co., all while getting to travel and do all of the things I love the most thanks to my van.
